In the past, she worked in other youth projects, volunteered for summer camps for teenagers (including the UN Model Peace Corps Camp in Ukraine), and studied political science in Germany and Estonia.

Listeners of the session “Children’s Parliaments in Action: Presentation of Methods and Success Stories” will learn how teenagers from different parts of Ukraine develop and implement adult-changing initiatives and how to create a platform for proactive, motivated youth participation in community life.

Author of rehabilitation programs for people with addictions and their families, author of many trainings and webinars for professionals on the prevention of psychoactive substances use among adolescents and young people. Member of the working group for the creation of the Standard for the Rehabilitation of People with Psychoactive Substance Dependencies. She has many years of practical experience as a psychologist, psychotherapist with adolescents who use psychoactive substances.

– During the session “The impact of digital technologies on the quality of sleep and health of adolescents” Oksana will talk about common sleep problems in children and adolescents; the negative impact of the use of smartphones and gadgets on sleep problems in children and adolescents; as well as scientific data and recent research on the effects of digital technology on sleep. Session starts on September 16 at 10.30.

– The presentation “Marijuana and its impact on depression and anxiety”, which will begin on September 17 at 14.50, will contain information about scientific data and data from Oksana’s own practical work on the harmfulness of marijuana use in adolescence, the relationship between marijuana use in adolescence and mental disorders.

She has more than 10 years of experience as a practicing psychologist in rehabilitation centers for children and adolescents who are in difficult life circumstances.

Expert on conducting interviewing children who have suffered from violence, based on the friendly justice method. She is also a consultant, UNICEF project trainer, All-Ukrainian Civic Center “Volunteer” trainer in the field of protection of the child’s rights and interests and training of various actors in response to domestic violence.

Adolescence is a difficult and important period. During the session “Manifestations of aggression in adolescence: factors of origin and organization of care” will be considered, what are the important goals and novelties of adolescence. Participants learn about hormonal changes and neurobiological features of adolescence. Nataliia will analyze the difficulties that teenagers face and how to help them. Participants of the session will learn to analyze the “problematic behavior” of adolescents according to the proposed scheme and will work out an algorithm for responding to manifestations of aggression in adolescence.

Yana is 22 years old, she is Ukrainian and has a bachelor’s degree in social work (Academy of Labor, Social Relations and Tourism). She is the Chair of the Board of the “Teenergizer”, an Association for Adolescents and Youth, since 2015. She has been working in the field of support and protection of the rights of vulnerable adolescents for 7 years in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, is the author of the report “Main barriers to adolescent HIV testing in Ukraine, Russia and Georgia.”

Yana was born with HIV. When she was 10, she learned about her HIV status. At the age of 13, she spoke openly at the International Conference on Children and HIV on behalf of adolescents living with HIV in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. In addition, as a result of an open speech on her HIV status in Moldova and advocacy in June 2013, the Ministry of Health introduced disability benefits for all HIV+ children.

Also, as a result of an open speech at an extended meeting of the Coordinating Committee for HIV Prevention in the Sverdlovsk region in Russia in December 2013 and other advocacy activities, it was decided that government agencies should pay special attention to the youth living with HIV. She spoke about HIV+ adolescents from the EECA region at the 2016 UN General Assembly HIV/AIDS Summit, and was a panelist at the 22-nd International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam in 2018.

During her session “Advocacy and mobilization of adolescents and youth in Ukraine” Yana will talk about current issues among adolescents and youth, as well as what are the ways to solve them at the state level. The session will begin on September 17 at 16.25.
